La Casa de los Gatos Malcriados se encuentra ubicada en la ciudad de Mérida, Yucatán, México y actualmente es la morada de 53 gatos y 5 perros.
No somos un albergue formal de animales. Somos gente común y corriente y lo único que nos distingue es nuestro profundo compromiso con ellos. En un país con una cultura casi nula de respeto a los animales, nos sentimos obligadas a ser una voz para ellos y una mano cuando más lo necesitan.
Comenzamos en el 2003 sin una visión definida, más que el afán de ayudar a los animalitos que de pronto habían sido separados de su madre y ahora buscaban sobrevivir en un medio desconocido para ellos.
Estos pequeños peludos son nuestro mayor orgullo. Reciben de nosotras, no sólo alimento y cuidados, sino también el cariño y empatía necesarios para hacerlos sentir bien. De ellos les podemos contar muchas historias de recuperación y algunas muy tristes, llenas de abandono y sufrimiento.
Son gatos juguetones y sus travesuras llenan nuestra vida de alegría. Por eso, los llamamos Los Malcriados y esta es su casa: La Casa de los Gatos Malcriados.
Actualmente, nuestro objetivos están canalizados en:
- Promover la adopción en vez de la compra de mascotas.
- Concientizar a los propietarios y futuros propietarios de animales sobre las ventajas de esterilizar a sus adoptados.
- Encontrarle un hogar digno a los gatos que hemos rescatado.
- Pugnar por la aprobación de leyes que eviten el maltrato animal.
- Apoyar y orientar a quienes encuentran animalitos desamparados para que a su vez les encuentren hogares temporales y fijos.

Who are we?
La Casa de los Gatos Malcriados (The House of the Brat Cats) is a cat sanctuary located in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico and at the moment is the home of over 50 cats and 5 dogs.
We are not a conventional shelter. We are regular people, the only difference is that we have a deep commitment to animals. In a country with a almost non-existant culture to animal respect, we feel obligated to be a voice for them and a hand when they need it.
We started in 2003 without a defined goal, but the idea to help animals that had been separated from their mothers and where in a unknown and harsh enviroment.
Our little furbabies are our pride and joy. They get from us, not only food and care but, love and empathy and whatever they need to make them feel good. We can tell you lots of success and happy stories but also many full of sadness and suffering.
They are very playful cats and their mischief fill our lives with joy. That´s why we call them the Brats and this is their home: The House of the Brat Cats.
At the moment, our goals are:
- Promote adopting animals vs buying from puppy mills.
- Educate people about the benefits of sterilization for their family pet.
- Find a loving and caring home to the cats we have at the moment.
- Fight to get laws approve that support animal rights.
- Give guidance to people that have rescued an animal.
